With over 75 registered participants, representing various groups across our community (funders, grassroots, faith-based, youth, academics, think tanks, advocacy, etc.), and an incredible lineup of panelists and workshops, the PSI community-wide meeting on June 30th is guaranteed to be an incredible event!
Ambassador Bob Gallucci (Dean, School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University and lead negotiator on the 1994 Agreed Framework) will kick the day off promptly at 9am with a keynote address framing the meeting - "Preparation for a New Moment: Opportunities and Obstacles for the Next Administration." As detailed below, we will then have a roundtable discussion featuring representatives from the Obama and McCain campaigns discussing PSI priority issues and a second panel on how to influence the presidential transition team. In the afternoon, we will offer three workshops offered will be (1) fundraising in a recession; (2) strategic communications; and (3) public speaking. Finally, the PSI community has been invited to an exclusive film screening of "Johnny Got His Gun," an anti-war movie based on the classic monologue by Dalton Trumbo (please see details below).

At the midpoint of 2008, it's clearer than ever that our community has an historic opportunity to make dramatic progress on our peace and security priority issues. The PSI is committed to providing a platform and resources to help the community prepare for and take full advantage of this moment. At the upcoming community-wide meeting, we will consider opportunities and obstacles to affect policy change; discuss community resources needed to overcome the obstacles and effectively take advantage of the opportunities; and improve organizational capacity through trainings on the media; fundraising; and strategic communications.
