Campaign for a Nuclear Weapons Free World

On March 5, 2007, the PSI helped bring together over 75 people ~ representing more than 50 organizations ~ in a national strategy implementation meeting. At this meeting, participants collaborated in devising a national collaborative two-year strategic campaign to generate a public debate on U.S. nuclear weapons policy. We also expanded our understanding of security messaging in the context of media opportunities. Finally, meeting participants agreed on next steps for moving this campaign forward. These included continued facilitation and outreach by the Planning Committee (which is made up of peace and security community representatives); identifying funding opportunities for the campaign; and drafting a Campaign Organizing Statement for agreement and adoption by participant organizations.
